During the course, students attend lectures, supervisions and research seminars in a range of technical and specialist subjects central to research in the different areas of history, philosophy, sociology and anthropology of health and medicine. These include core and optional modules covering each of these areas, as well as opportunities to attend research seminars across the Departments and the wider University. Our undergraduate programmes in Medicine, Dentistry and Medical Sciences are delivered in world-class facilities by academic staff who are at the forefront of teaching and research excellence. The Sheffield Healthcare Gateway creates healthcare partnerships and collaborations with service providers and pharmaceutical, clinical, life science and biomedical companies.

We work with the NHS, public sector, industry and voluntary sector organisations to develop solutions to health care problems; innovating for the benefit of patients, the NHS, industry and the wider economy. The new Health Innovation Campus at Lancaster University brings together industry, research partners, health and care providers, the voluntary sector and local authorities to create an innovation eco-system. The Faculty is pleased to announce that in the most recent Research Excellence Framework , 91% of our Research was judged to be world-leading or internationally excellent, and 100% of our research environment was rated world-leading. Students develop essential research skills through an independent research project. There are no compulsory elements of this course that entail additional costs beyond fees and living costs. However, as part of your course requirements, you may need to choose a dissertation, a project or a thesis topic.

These deadlines apply to applications for courses starting in Michaelmas 2022, Lent 2023 and Easter 2023. Students complete three essays over the course of 9 months, working closely with supervisors to address a range of topics covered by the core and optional modules. They will also write a dissertation on a topic of their choice, refined in consultation with their supervisor. Dissertation seminars give students the opportunity to gain experience in presenting their own work and discussing the issues that arise from it with an audience of their peers and senior members of staff. Placements are an integral part of many of our courses, and give you real experience for when you start your career.

Lancaster Success Programme

By the end of the course, graduates will also have acquired a range of technical and transferable skills. They will have acquired or consolidated methodological, linguistic, technical and ancillary skills appropriate for research in their chosen area. They will also have demonstrated the ability to make independent judgements based on their own research, presented their own ideas and arguments in a public forum and learned to contribute constructively within an international environment. It doesn’t matter whether you’re still in education, thinking about switching your career or already working in health, you’ll get the information you need. Our world-class facilities are designed to give students a simulated feel of the clinical environment they will work in. We offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, research and CPD courses at our campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough. Our MSc in Medical Physics will improve your knowledge of how technology can help diagnose disease, while you learn about all the major aspects of physics as applied in the modern clinical/health environment. Our researchers conduct a wide range of fundamental and applied research that has impact on many aspects of modern life. Biomedical and Life Sciences

Students from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented at university are not always aware of the breadth of support opportunities available to them. Offering cutting-edge information from the diagnosis and prevention of disease, to therapeutic and direct patient care services and healthcare management. There is an application processing fee for this programme of £90 for online applications and £115 for paper applications. All students are required to pay for their DBS check if required for your programme or placement if relevant. Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health

Some students like to purchase their own text books or print course documents and we suggest allowing approximately £200 per year for this. Upon successful completion of 180 credits, you will be awarded an MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health. Upon successful completion of 120 credits, you will be awarded a PG Dip in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health. Country-specific information, including details of when UCL representatives are visiting your part of the world, can be obtained from the International Students website.
